LGTList Community Agreement
By clicking below to confirm my application for participation in LGTList, I agree that the following practices shall govern my interaction as a participant in LGTList:
List Rules
- The primary discussion content for this list will be (1) The 14 points of LGT, (2) The varied text and audio content published on lastgenerationtheology.org, (3) items presented as recommended resources in Cleanse and Close, pp. 151 - 155, (4) practically application to the list of LGT principles.
- I will not distract the list with conspiracy theories about the Illuminati or the Jesuits. Recognizing that such ideas more often are speculative or sensational rather than practical, I here address myself to practical Christlikeness in the end-time.
- I will seek to maintain a positive rather than negative disposition, seeing that Heaven’s purpose is that in me would be developed a character akin to Christ.
- Neither the LGT site or list is a forum for “bashing the church.” Our goal is to uplift her, protect her, help her, and be faithful in living and giving the Third Angel’s Message.
- Note that the list is essentially unmoderated or semi-moderated and content on it may not at all reflect ministry intent. Do not assume that list content represents the views of LastGenerationTheology.org, GreatControversy.org or the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Although loosely moderated only, steps have been and shall be taken to maintain the integrity and usefulness of the list.
- Messages must be sent to LGTList in plain text only. All list members are responsible for their own email and list settings.
- Always trim list messages you are quoting from or responding to. This means just paste in the first few lines and cut off all the rest. This spares list members from wading through the same text over and over again.
- Email must be specific to LGTList. Do not forward random email items you have received. Because list traffic goes to many busy people, respect their time and energy by placing on the list items that are specifically appropriate for the list.
- LGTList may not be used to send spam or solicit business offers. If one wishes to offer books, booklets, or cassettes, or CDs to list members, one must first ask the list operators.
- Participation in LGTList is a privilege. Although technically this is an unmoderated list, practically it is a moderated list. List administrators and moderators uphold and enforce these rules.
- The list is not a forum for error. LGTList is not a neutral list, but a list in advocacy of the LGT concepts as outlined on lastgenerationtheology.org. We do not expect lockstep agreement, but participants are expected to respect pro-LGT views.
- Discussion may be restricted on certain topics at the moderator’s discretion. Presently, the topic of Abortion is a banned topic and is not to be mentioned on the list.
- List members must comply with any rulings by the administrator or by a list moderator.
- List emails are considered private communications and must not be republished on the internet without explicit consent. Publishing list emails on the internet will result in permanently being banned from LGTList.
- When subscribing to LGTList, you must give your real name in the box provided.
- If you follow the teachings of Christ, doing unto others as you would have them do unto you, you will get along fine.
LGTList Community Covenant
By asking to be accepted as a participant on LGTList, it is agreed that you will abide by the following Community Covenant:
- If I am present here as a non-Christian, I will seek to interact respectfully with fellow list members in a spirit such as that indicated in the following points.
- I come in honesty. I am not here as an unauthorized participant.
- I am not currently banned from lists operated by GCO.
- I come in integrity. I will not seek to provoke vitriol in others but to bless.
- I come in humility. I will work with the list moderators and, realizing they are human and fallible, yet comply with their decisions.
- I come as a positive and not a negative. I aim by God’s grace to go forward on the pathway to the holy city.
- I come to copy Jesus’ character. My behavior here will reflect this. I will model converted behavior to the list.
- I refuse to be an independent atom. I am here representing my little stone in the larger body of Christ.
- I come in hot pursuit of truth! God help me follow the Lamb wherever He goes.
Nine (Suggested) Commandments for Discussion
- JESUS IS SITTING WITH US. Anyone may introduce a new topic, but with the introduction of each topic, let the topic-starter state, “Jesus is sitting in this discussion with us.”
- SPIRIT. When someone presents on the list a topic that has special “sizzle” and interest to you, evaluate:
a. Does the presentation of the item by its author represent a statement that may have been made in ignorance?
b. Does the presentation of the item seem calculated to elicit disagreement and emotional reaction? On the internet, such posts are called “flames” and often result in “flame wars.” This is unacceptable behavior in the LGTList.
c. Based on your knowledge of previous posts by that author, do you anticipate that the author will react reasonably or unreasonably to anything you might post?
d. Do I have something further to contribute to this discussion?
- HINTS ON PREPARING POSTS.
a. Some have found it helpful to prepare their post using a word processor and then copying and pasting it into an email for the list and then sending it.
b. Some have found it helpful to prayerfully write their post and then sleep on it, sending it only the next day. Sometimes we find that after reading it again the next day before sending it that they didn't want really to send it. Or, they find they need to change the tone of the post to make it more gentle and Christlike.
- QUOTES. Quote others accurately, try not to combat a position never taken by the other. In any case, combat is not the purpose of the list.
- CONVERSION. How can I have part in the current line of discussion so that it becomes an example of how converted people interact with each other? We recommend that you consider this thought before making your post.
- RESPECT. Lock-step agreement is not expected or anticipated. Nevertheless, please, in all that you post to LGTList, respect the positions taken by the GCO ministry and in the LGT14. These are outlined at:
GCO Mission and Goals
LGT14
- WITNESS. What would the non-present truth person “listening in” on the list to the people who represent the bride of Christ, “without spot or wrinkle, or any such thing” think of my words? There are non-Adventists subscribed to this list, and they are welcome. But we have to, with that fact, realize that we are representing something. Therefore we will labor to present Christ as proper representatives.
- TRIVIALNESS. Ever post to the list need not be a deep theological treatise. Nevertheless, some of the shortest “thank you” emails and such can travel off-list. Often they can be sent directly to the individual rather than go to all list members.
- CONCISION. There are a few easy steps each list participant can take to help all other list members.
a. We continue to ask all list participants to trim their messages. That is, when you are replying to another message, just include the first few lines of the previous post and delete the rest before you send your reply. This keeps the emails shorter and is the only accepted practice for posting on this list.
b. Consider grouping your responses. Sometimes several separate reply emails are sent. Sometimes this is desirable, but often replies can be grouped together and less emails sent. Remember that some who participate in the list will feel overwhelmed if the number of separate list emails becomes too great, and they might choose to discontinue participation in this list community.
c. Respect the time of others. Make your posts neither too long or too short. Give us your valuable thoughts.
