From jjdmdsp at ptd.net Wed May 11 17:42:06 2005 From: jjdmdsp at ptd.net (Jeremy dePrisco) Date: Wed May 11 17:42:11 2005 Subject: [Bloomsburgcares] Website updated, letters reviewed, JD taking a break Message-ID: <20050511214209.EF29557087@seven.pairlist.net> FYI - The web site is updated with a summary of recent letters of intent that went out. I did not link the letters themselves, but upon reviewing them I think they were fine. The deadline for 4Kali.org was a bit aggressive, but that might be good for getting a response back. (When I drafted the original letter I left the dates open) Sorry Chris was unable to see them and got upset. Apparently he tried to get up to the shop to see them, but was unable too. Not sure why. Anyway, some other announcements: I will be dropping off of the radar indefinitely for two reasons: 1) Audra and I close on our house at the end of May, 2) I really need to take a break after a long, intense semester. While I appreciate what the group is doing, and I?ve enjoyed helping where my skills are suited, I can not take on additional administrative tasks for this group. I will be particularly unavailable - completely offline - from May 26 - June 2. On a related note, I'd like to see if there are any interested parties to help maintain this list and/or the web site in the future. All that is needed is someone with basic web design knowledge. A student may even wish to take on the project as a learning experience. It's a great opportunity to do some community service. The list - I question whether the list is even useful. It doesn't seem to be understood by all, and I wonder if it has been effective. It can be a powerful tool, and I see it used in many other cases to great effect. I'd be willing to entertain the group's thoughts on this subject. The main purpose of the list was to have a central place to manage contact emails, and so that no one can say they didn't get an announcement because the list contains all emails (unlike Outlook groups, which can go awry). The site - The bloomsburgcares.org domain name will expire in about two years. After that period, it will be up to someone from the group to renew, or it will become fair game for anyone who wants it. I will continue to host the site free of charge for the next year, and if the group is interested in maintaining that relationship beyond one year, we can discuss arrangements at a later date. Right now, upkeep of the site is the main concern. I can post a weekly update if the necessary information is sent to me promptly to update@bloomsburgcares.org. I will not, however, sift through list postings for this info - it is simply too difficult to tell what is intended for publication, and what is considered private group correspondence. The list was never really intended for web updates anyway - only discussion. The initial mission of the group is admirable, but I think it is obvious that we may have bitten off more than we could chew in some areas. If a musical event is required down the line, of course I'd like to be involved. For now, I certainly know my own limits - moving two blocks over is turning out to be more stressful than moving here from Harrisburg, so I just need time to get settled. Best luck to all. ___________________ Jeremy J. dePrisco Writer, Composer & Sound Distortion Specialist MINDSPEAK & Blue Buddha Records http://www.mindspeak.com "I've never known a musician who regretted being one.
