You get the negotiated rates when you pay for services (e.g. ~$115 for an office visit instead of the Dr. "retail rates") and you decide when you want to go to the doctor. Most preventative stuff is covered with just a co-pay (e.g. $20) and falls outside the deductible. Netting it out, I pay ~$750 per month for the insurance saving about $400 per month from what I was paying for an HMO. That money gets sent to the HSA and accumulates interest, it also rolls over each year. After about a year I've got enough in the HSA to cover any deductible payment. Thats the plan *and* that's the plan. I'm betting my family won't use $400/mo of healthcare *each* month. It's a bit of a twist for some folks to accept (e.g. my wife). Basically, you're committing to pay for the first $6,000 of your health needs. If you're healthy, you'll [knock on wood] not use that - if you're not healthy, you would have paid that anyway in monthly HMO premiums. Another area of concern is disability insurance. Although we're not in a particularly dangerous profession, figures show disability more probable than premature death (mature death hovers around 100% ;-). Some life insurance companies (e.g. Amica) offer disability options. If anyone has other ideas (other than premature death) to deal with disability I'd love to hear about them. (There are many of these but I feel this a, if not /the/, top one). I also recommend using the full package rather than the lite one. I also recommend installing cygwin for a command line shell (bash, csh, tcsh, etc.) and standard unix tools. (During install you'll have to add a the good stuff -- and quickly, since it uses FTP and the timeout is short). -Justin H?seyin S,ent?rk wrote: > Hi, > I have been trying to install MySQL, Apache and PHP on my computer. > My resourcebook is "PHP & MySQL for Dummies". > I have installed MySQL and Apache2.2. > I downloaded PHP. > But I can not joint PHP and Apache2. > System shows the same errors: > "LoadModule takes two arguments, a module name and the name of a shared > object file to load it from..." > What should I do? > Thank you very much. > > Huseyin Senturk > ------------------------------------------------------------------------ > > _______________________________________________ > Bostonphptalk mailing list > Bostonphptalk at bostonphp.org > http://seven.pairlist.net/mailman/listinfo/bostonphptalk > -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
