I didn't realize that Aptana offers a no fee version that is fairly complete
(the 'pro' version is $99) nor that it's based on Eclipse -- meaning that
learning/using Aptana would be similar to Eclipse and other Eclipse-based
projects such as PDT (http://www.eclipse.org/pdt/).

My desire has been to use Eclipse + PDT because I want an _open source_ IDE
that is complete (e.g. supports working on remote subversion checkout) -
maybe that's just a dream.  Products such s Zend Studio cost as much as
$400.  Here is a comparison of Zend Studio v. PDT

If you do want to learn/use Zend Studio, here are their videos:
http://www.zend.com/en/products/studio/videos  (Zend studio is based on PDT)

Aside: I don't want to pay that much money, but _more_ importantly I don't
want to sink any money into a tool  that later becomes obsolete because of
market forces or business decisions by the company which provides that
software.

Anyway,  good video tutorial on using Eclipse in a PHP environment, here are

I started introducing myself to Eclipse back in 2008 (but I'm still an

Sorry for the bad recommendation, but this video from Zend
a) doesn't load
b) crashed Firefox when I tried to load it directly
c) is really medium quality at best (after I wget'd it and started
watching it with MoviePlayer.)
