From skat at davidparlett.co.uk Sun Apr 8 08:45:58 2007 From: skat at davidparlett.co.uk (David Parlett) Date: Sun, 8 Apr 2007 13:45:58 +0100 Subject: [Bska] Skat April 15th at The Plough Message-ID: Dear Skat-player With apologies for the short notice (I thought I had sent this message last week but accidentally committed a technical error) the next BSkA Skat tournament will take place on Sunday 15th April, though not at the Rising Sun, which is unable to accommodate us on Sundays. Instead, our venue will be The Plough, 27 Museum Street, just round the corner from the British Museum and round the other corner from Tottenham Court Road underground station. (See http://www.allinlondon.co.uk/clubs_bars/venue-656.php). We are booked from 11 am to 8 pm. It's my turn to be the organiser and I hope we will be ready to start by 11.30. We will follow the usual pattern of four sessions of Synchron Skat, lasting 90 minutes each, with a break for lunch after the first session. As usual, lunch can be ordered on arrival and there will be a 5 GBP entry fee. Please let me know as soon as possible whether you plan to take part and, if so, whether for all four sessions or just for a part of the day. You can email me on dp at davpar.com or leave a message on my voicemail number, 020 8764 4185. In case of last-minute hitches you can contact me on 07905 679 246. And, in view of the delay (my fault), it would be helpful to be assured that you have actually received this message even if you can't make it. Looking forward... -- David Parlett President, British Skat Association From n.leaver at btopenworld.com Wed Apr 11 13:52:29 2007 From: n.leaver at btopenworld.com (Noel Leaver) Date: Wed, 11 Apr 2007 18:52:29 +0100 Subject: [Bska] Underground this Sunday Message-ID: <076201c77c62$313b7d50$c5048956@TOSH> As on most weekends at present, there are some bits of the Underground system closed on Sunday. Fortunately the Central Line which is probably the most useful is running normally this weekend. However, the Circle line and District line Earls Court to Whitechapel are completely closed. Noel From skat at davidparlett.co.uk Thu May 3 07:52:44 2007 From: skat at davidparlett.co.uk (David Parlett) Date: Thu, 3 May 2007 12:52:44 +0100 Subject: [Bska] Skat at MSO 2007 Message-ID: Dear Skat-player The 2007 Minds Sports Olympiad is now scheduled for Saturday August 18th to Monday 27th (Bank Holiday). Last year's venue is unfortunately not available and this year's will take place in the United Reformed Church Hall, Darkes Lane, Potters Bar (about 10 minutes walk from the station and with adequate car parking facilities). We have been invited to organise a Skat tournament and previous experience suggests that a Saturday or Sunday would be best. Saturday 18th is the date of a BSkA tournament at the Plough, when we will be joined by our friends from Denmark, and Sunday 19th is only available to us in the morning. We had therefore better make it the following Saturday or Sunday, 25th or 26th. The MSO needs to recover its costs from entry fees and the event would cost about ?15 per player, with a reduction for under 19s. There will be trophies (not medals) awarded to the top three players. There are no cash prizes unless an independent sponsor is found. Please let me know as soon as possible if you would like to play at the MSO and whether you can make either Saturday or Sunday or, if not, which one you can do. As soon as we have a minimum of six probable players for one of the two days I will book it with Tony Corfe, who is at present trying to timetable everything. I promised Tony I'd let him know by next week whether we had enough potential players to make a booking, so a rapid response (whether positive or negative) would be much appreciated. N.B. Saturday N.B. Plough We haven't had a Saturday event in the Plough before, and I expect this one will be a great success. Not far along Museum Street, north of The Plough, is "Playin Games", a shop selling board and card games. You can see how near it is from this picture: http://www.explore-london.co.uk/musw.html. If you plan to attend, there are two things you have to do in advance: 1.) Tell me, as soon as possible and preferably by email, that you will be coming. This is so that I can know how many prizes to prepare, and so that I can warn the pub how many of us to expect. 2.) On the day of the event, confirm that you will be coming. You can do this either by turning up in The Plough before 11:15, or by ringing my mobile: 07890 998884 There are details of the event, and a link to a map showing how to get there, at file:///C:/data/weddslist/skat/ploughnw.html I look forward to seeing you on Saturday 26th, Nick -- Nick Wedd nick at maproom.co.uk From nick at maproom.co.uk Wed May 16 05:48:38 2007 From: nick at maproom.co.uk (Nick Wedd) Date: Wed, 16 May 2007 10:48:38 +0100 Subject: [Bska] May 26th event - correction Message-ID: I wrote "There are details of the event, and a link to a map showing how to get there, at ...", giving an erroneous link.
