Seems like Iceland would be a hard sell. Instead of half the people
attending needing to take long distance flights, you end up with _everyone_
needing to do so. Well, everyone but you ;)

How would you connect with the right people? They were all at the
Casual Game Summit
and Minna Mingle at GDC in March, and they will be at Casuality in
Seattle in June.

----- Go to the conferences - noted. Thanks for that tip too,
John. Being based in the midwest, attending the various game-
development conferences would constitute a serious investment for
me. But if they really do work as networking enablers, as you appear
to indicate, that could help justify the expense of attending all the
more.

Since my company is based in Iceland I have to choose conferences very
carefully and limit the number of people attending. I have to strike a
balance between cost and value.

With this in mind I would like people on this list to give me their view on
what conference is the most important one - the main event - in regard to
making contacts and gaining business insight. It would also be helpful if
someone could outline the major differences between big conferences like
Casual Games Summit, Casuality and Minna Mingle.

-- PLEASE NOTE : The following paragraphs contain a matter of heart for me
and are not directly related to the questions posed above. Feel free to
ignore them.

Actually, I would really like to create a regular international event here
in Iceland. I think the location is ideal because it is right between USA
and Europe and international flight paths between the two continents
interconnect here. It would also translate into cataclysmic cost reduction
for me... but that is maybe not something other would identify with ;-)

Still - What venue is better for a game conference then an island in the
middle of nowhere where the forces of nature seem to meet and the landscape
is otherworldly - this place could be cut right out of a fairytale! The
conference could include actual play since attendants might experience river
rafting, bathing in natural hot springs, going over glaciers on snowmobiles
and everything in between. It could be a conference and an adventure.

Anyway, if somebody finds these thoughts interesting or any good then
please, do not hesitate to contact me. I would really like to host the
"Coolest Casual Game Conference in the World" sometime in 2007 if it got
enough attention and enthusiasm.
