I don't think its the case that women lack immersion. I've seen women  
(and young males) extremely immersed in casual games. They almost  
seem hypnotized when they are really "in the zone".

Personally I think its simply the case that casual games do not  
require the specialist skills that hardcore games require. Many  
hardcore games involve mastering complex keyboard and mouse controls,  
and for this reason they only appeal to a subset of gamers. Casual  
games involve very simple controls, which anyone can master. That's  
why they appeal to a larger audience.

Well, that's one reason anyway. The gameplay mechanic certainly plays  
a role too.
