ClubPenguin (ClubPenguin.com) is the best product out there for that age
group along the lines of what you're describing.

Subject: [casual_games] multi user, interactive games

Hi,

New here so don't know quite what to do but I'm sure if I'm not doing
this right...some one will tell me.

I'm one of a small group of parents who have developed a web site for
kids 5 to 12. Hope to launch by end of January.

We are looking for a game for this age bracket, more likely 8 to 12 yrs
of age, that is a multi user/interactive game type.
For a better idea think "runescape". Would like to know if anyone out
there has something along these lines, or will have in the near future.
We are looking to offer it just from our site.

Thank you
