Hey Devon,

Welcome to the forum.

The people who work in casual games are a really great group of people and
the community is strong. I’m sure you’ll find it to be a good home for your
company.

As far as your questions, my best advice is to do your market analysis
carefully. If possible, try to spread your investment risk over several
games. And most importantly, live and die by your Game Design Document.
Once you get to that stage, take your time upfront. Play the game before
you make it. Where are the holes, where are the flaws. My test for a good
GDD is: can you play the game by reading the doc; from “Install” to “Exit”.
Also can you answer all your programmers’ questions from that document? The
GDD should be your road map from point to point; simple straightforward and
easy to read. At a glance, you and your team should know where you’re going
with you game.

Anyways, that’s my two pixels worth.

As for your search, a couple of sites I know of are: HYPERLINK

Subject: [casual_games] New Game developer - seeks advice

Hi everyone,

I'm a brand new game developer, I'm building the team and the the business
at the same time. I've no experience in the video game industry, although
I've built online games in the past. I've also got 18 years of corporate
business experience. I've read and read and read, but now I need practical
experience, so I thought I'd turn to kindred spirits.

If anyone has any advice, words of wisdom, horror stories... anything, I'm
more than willing to listen.

Also.. is this a venue that can be used as recruiting? I don't want to
overstep any boundaries or rule, so I'm asking in advance.

Thank you,
E. Devon Bass - Bear
