Just a thought from somebody who has done a ton of meetings with publishers
when looking for funding for a game: We never asked publishers to sign an
NDA, but they frequently asked us to when they wanted to talk to us about
developing one of their ideas. Essentially, it worked like Jeremy mentioned.
While we were there pitching an idea the real point of the meeting was to
convince the publisher that they wanted to work with us. One of the ways to
do that was by showing off our great ideas, but the other way was showing
our track record, being professional, and generally making the publisher
comfortable with the fact that we would be a good partner.
Now, this is from the more traditional game industry. I don't see how the
casual games side of things would be particularly different and from what
Jeremy said, it sounds pretty much the same.
