** CALL FOR CASUAL GAMES SIG STEERING COMMITTEE NOMINATIONS **
Want to give back to the casual games industry in which you live? Or maybe
you wish it operated differently, and you'd like to help change it?
As a member of the IGDA's Casual Games SIG Executive Steering Committee, you
can be an important contributor and agent for change.
The SIG is run by volunteers, and it is through the time and dedication of
those volunteers that we are able to provide resources to the community. At
its core, the SIG with ~1100 members is led by a steering committee which
makes the final decision on which initiatives to pursue, and then leads
those initiatives through to fruition. To learn more about the SIG and its
initiatives, visit http://www.igda.org/casual
We are now soliciting nominations for the Executive Steering Committee to
serve during the next term (August '07 - July '08). Nominations can be made
anytime between now and July 13th.
E-mail nominations to casual at igda.org or submit them publicly via this
discussion list. If you are publicly nominating someone other than yourself,
please be sure s/he is in fact interested. Feel free to nominate yourself.
Nominations should include:
* Nominee's Name
* Nominee's E-mail Address
* Nominee's Company
* Nominee's Title
* How you have come to know the nominee
* Discuss the nominee's time available, knowledge and experience in one or
more areas of the casual game development (business, market, technology,
etc.) and willingness to contribute.
Participating on the Steering Committee can be a great way to show your
support of the casual game community. It can also be a way to help expand
your professional network of industry peers. However, nominees should be
aware that steering committee participation requires an increased level of
commitment to the SIG and our activities. If selected to the Steering
Committee you should be prepared to participate in one monthly, hour-long
conference call, as well as take the lead on one initiative and participate
in other committee members' initiatives.
The current Steering Committee will be meeting at Casual Connect Seattle in
July to select the next term's committee. Results will be announced shortly
after the show.
The current Steering Committee:
* Jason Akel (Chair)
* Robert Carrol
* James Gwertzman
* Charles Merrin
* Kane Minkus
* Brian Robbins
* James C. Smith
* Wade Tinney
* Margaret Wallace
Please note, selection to the steering committee is not based on the profile
of the company where an individual works. We seek to select individuals who
will provide the most to the group by way of volunteering their time, energy
and expertise to the community at large. One of the best indicators of this
is by participation in previous community and SIG endeavors such as the
Casual Games White Paper, the Quarterly, the Data Reporting Initiative and
even the Casual Games Association's various projects.
Again, please e-mail nominations to casual at igda.org
Thanks,
Jason Akel
