[casual_games] Question of the week

Smart-answer: Neither one is a genre, so no.

Somewhat more thoughtful answer: As platforms/distribution channels for PC
play, then yes, they are converging in a sense. It's clear to us (at Large
Animal) that our players from the downloadable days have largely moved over
to Facebook, or are at least in transition, with a foot in both. Converging
may not be quite the right word, however, since it implies an equitable
coming-together. Really, browser-based social networks are offering (most)
players a superior casual game experience and so they are jumping ship.

I'm sure there are players who still prefer the higher fidelity of
downloadable games in some instances, but I think the necessity of that
choice will go away soon.

My two cents. Cheers!
