Role Title:	product lead, user centred design  (aka Senior UCD
practioner)

Our customer experience team is looking for a talented UCD professional
to strenghten Telstra's ability to use user insights in the design of
innovative telecommunications and media products and services.

Role Description

The Product Lead, UCD will strengthen the existing team of UCD
professionals and compliment the wider design work undertaken by the
customer experience team.  The customer experience team is part of
Telstra Product Management, the division responsible for product
planning and management of Telstra's broad range of products and
services.  Working closely with product and project teams, you will
conduct end user research on key projects to understand customer needs
and motivations, translate those insights into core design requirements,
and develop the key interaction flows and wireframes that will become
the core design plan for excellent customer experiences.  You will also
have an understanding of and ability to manage/run Usability Activities
including usability testing and expert reviews

Role Requirements:
 - You will be passionate about great user experience, and fascinated by
the possibilities that new technology offer in terms of delivering
simple, intuitive and enjoyable product experiences.  
 - Ideally you will have 5+ experience in a User Centred Design role
including, but not limited to interaction design, usability engineering
and user research, or comparable experience.
 - You will be highly collaborative, and have a strong track record
participating as part of large project teams
 - Ideally demonstrate hands-on skills in design prototyping, with at a
minimum ability to develop basic visual mockups of core design ideas
 - Experience in framing & communicating user insights
 - Professional exposure to product development, marketing and software
development is ideal
 - Ability to communicate with confidence
 - Ability to adapt to a rapidly evolving business, technology and
customer space

Role Responsibilities:
 - organise and conduct user research to understand core behavioural and
usage oriented design needs
 - design product interaction flows and interfaces to deliver the best
possible oneclick product experience
 - facilitate prototyping and experience simulations as part of (an
increasingly) rapid iterative design process
 - employ strong story telling and visualualisation approaches to
explain your solutions
 - contribute to best practises development by participating in the
ongoing evolution and management of our product design processes and
methodologies
 - communicate design concepts in a range of forums including senior
cross-business stakeholders
 - engage and collaborate with Telstra Strategic Marketing product
market research teams for support and input into key product design
initiatives

Role Commencement:
The position will commence the first week of November.
