The Department of Information Systems (www.dis.unimelb.edu.au) at the
University of Melbourne (www.unimelb.edu.au) is seeking to appoint a new
Professor of Information Systems, commencing in 2009.  The appointee is
expected to provide leadership in IS across the department¹s research,
teaching & learning and knowledge transfer portfolios.
 
The research and teaching goal of the Department is to help people make
effective use of ICT. The Department¹s research interests span both
organisational (http://disweb.dis.unimelb.edu.au/research/oasis/index.php)
and community 
(http://www.dis.unimelb.edu.au/research/groups/interactiondesign/)
applications of ICT, and it is home to a variety of research projects and
collaborations in Health Informatics.
 
Candidates will have a demonstrated ability to build and lead successful
research teams in Organisational Information Systems, though candidates with
interests in other areas of the department¹s activities are welcome to
apply. The successful candidate would be expected to provide research
leadership, mentorship to junior colleagues, and assist in the development
of both additional sources of funding and collaborations with external
research and industry groups, both locally and internationally. The position
will also involve some teaching and research supervision.
 
The position is offered as a fractional (0.5), 3-year fixed term position.
An attractive remuneration package will be negotiated, including salary
packaging, superannuation (pension) contributions of 17%, as well as
development and staff training opportunities. Specific details regarding the
timing and the nature of the appointment are open for negotiation to enable
applicants who hold a continuing position elsewhere to apply. Applicants
would be expected to spend approximately half the year in Melbourne, though
the precise number, duration and timing of visits would be negotiated.
