[chisigmail] Canberra CHISIG meeting Thursday 5th March 5pm-6pm at ANU

Hello chisig email list,

I am the chair of the ACT chapter of CHISIG for 2009 and for our first activity of the year I propose a short informal meeting over snacks and drinks to make plans for what we will do this year.

To get going early in the year I propose that we meet next Thursday 5th March, 5pm to 6pm, in the lunch room of the Computer Science and Information Technology Building on the Australian University Campus (Building 108 on North Road).

Some suggestions for what we might do:

-           Short talks by our members on case study projects
-           Invited speakers
-           Laboratory visits
-           Discussions around a common theme, such as field observations, HCI requirements gathering, dealing with stakeholders
-           "Code-share" with our HFESA colleagues.  For example, their working plan for the year includes a breakfast format meeting on voice activated software (March 18th, 7:30 - 9:00) and a one-day workshop early in June with one of the keynote speakers from CHI_NewZealand (Prof. Sara Czaja) on technology and older people
-           Plan for and mentor submissions to our own annual conference, OZCHI, which will be in Melbourne late in November or early in December.

If you would like to attend please email me so I can organise snacks, juice and soft drinks, tea and coffee.  If you can't attend but have ideas please email them and I will collate and print copies for the meeting to read (Duncan.stevenson at csiro.au). I will put notices on the main entrance of the building pointing to the lunch room on Level 2 (take the stairs) and will try to get ANU Security to delay locking the doors.  If the entrance doors are shut please phone my mobile.  The car park on Daley Road starts to empty by 5pm and is only a few minutes walk - see www.anu.edu.au for a campus map.
