You are cordially invited to an IDL Seminar this coming Friday.
PRESENTER: Pedro Rosas
TITLE: Preliminary insights from a study on Self-monitoring and Social Influence
VENUE: The University of Melbourne: Usability Lab, Level 4, 111 Barry Street, Carlton
DATE and TIME: Friday 23rd March 2012, 3.00pm, - 4.00 pm
ABSTRACT:
My research project explores how people use technology to achieve their goals, in particular when interactive systems mix two types of technologies: 1) Self-monitoring technologies like pedometers, heart-rate monitors or calorie counters, and 2) Online social networks that are designed to store, analyse and share this self-performance information with other online users. Classic examples of these systems are the Nike+ pedometer or heart rate monitors as with the Suunto products. Both of these systems are linked to online social networks.
In this seminar I will be sharing preliminary outcomes that are emerging from the first study of my PhD and hopefully receive feedback related to my analysis.
