I wonder how laggy it is for the likes of twitch one-switch game Canabalt, the same as you. Re. Two switch on PS3/Xbox 360 navigation works across all the utilities that I've tested inc. photos, video, music, visualiser, web-browser, iPlayer and games which are accessible to a limited extent. Some work perfectly though (Golf, Pool, Pinball, DDR, Um Jammer Lammy). There's a tiny bit of lag, but if the difference is simple being able to play or not being able to play at all, I know what I'd go for. I can play Pinball Arcade fine with it, so it's quick enough. I'm looking into getting it one-switch accessible, and I'll let you know if I pull it off. One example: "The Book of Unwritten Tales" does not have 100% subtitles. The cut scene do not have any subtitle at all. There are more games that have this special problems. Think also about games that have subtitles but no sound alternatives for sound puzzles! It is important to give the information if there is 100% or less "sound alternatives". It can also be useful to know if it is subs or completely sound alternative. I can hear, but do not understand e.g. Japanese. I need subs. A deaf player would also need sound alterantive. Being able to filter out all games that aren't colour-blind friendly, for example. Apple have now added a single page of accessibility related apps to their site, so from that I wouldn't too surprised if that's a first step towards them adding in accessibility feature listings to iTunes. If that happens I doubt it will be for games, but even so it all appears to be heading in the right direction. There are also the smaller proprietory game stores opening up, ouya etc, that are looking for a competitive edge and free from the corporate beaurocracy and status quo pressures that have prevented some bigger organisations from doing it. The smaller companies seem pretty up for it from the conversations I've had at least, if anyone has any contacts with them it could be a good area to do a bit of lobbying in. ----- Reply message ----- From: games_access-request at igda.org To: Subject: games_access Digest, Vol 116, Issue 14 Date: Sat, Aug 31, 2013 3:00 PM Send games_access mailing list submissions to games_access at igda.org To subscribe or unsubscribe via the World Wide Web, visit http://seven.pairlist.net/mailman/listinfo/games_access or, via email, send a message with subject or body 'help' to games_access-request at igda.org You can reach the person managing the list at games_access-owner at igda.org When replying, please edit your Subject line so it is more specific than "Re: Contents of games_access digest..." There's now a more clarified listing on Steams store pages which tell us what languages are available in text, audio and subtitles!
