[IGDA Mobile-SIG List] Flash Mobile? (was user ping request)

I do understand what you are saying, but since I work on a "Need to be
Profitable" developer house I do have to able to achieve results...
Java is the way for now, very few Mobiles support Flash and Operators WANT
Java, BREW, etc...
It's true that there is lot of effort on the side of Programmers in Java,
but so does exist in other Gaming/console environments, and IMHO if you put
a programmer managing the game development for sure artists will have no
control over the production, but the game manager could be a graphic artis
with programming skills or a real game designer and then you have a
balancing between both.. code and graphics...

To be honest I'm not that excited about 3D on mobiles.. I have one or two
ideas I'd like to implement, but what originally attracted me to mobile was
the accessibility of it by small dev teams. I think 3D is going to lock out
a lot of devs. I also don't think that 2D is necessary for many things. Ok,
fine, I'll admit it, I like 2D because it reminds me of the stuff I used to
play ;)
Seriously though, I feel like the balance of codeing:art in mobile dev is
just too heavy on the code side with Java, and after seeing how rapidly a
decent game could be set up in flash and how much control the artist can be
give I like the idea of using it for mobile dev. And no, I'm not an artist
;)

I'm a Mobile developer... don't get too excited, flash has a higher overhead
than Java and games are already slow in Java (you have to try to work around
this problem, and its only 1, there are several).
What I'm looking forward to see is the 3D Hardware working on the
handsets... and some standardization of the technology, there is already
shaders for mobile :-)
Lets see what they will release in GDC this here...

This was done in answer to a request to see what sort of numbers we have on
the list..
What I'd like to know is, with so many people subscribed, why are we not
seeing more discussion?
If no-one minds me starting one, I'd like to know if anyone has tried flash
mobile, and what you think of it. I'm really excited about the idea of it (I
think it could be far better than J2ME/BREW for 2D stuff)..

Please guys.. I know that the traffic has been low, but it doesn't benefit
any of us if everyone artificially generates "me too" messages. Sheesh.
