Steve - Bottom line, since the FCC says legacy EAS is not going away, unless a state changes its traditional monitoring assigments, cable systems (and broadcasters) would probably need to monitor both legacy and new CAP feeds.

Granted how warm and fuzzy cable systems feel about EAS ;^p .... but the other answer is to encourage them to start participating in their SECC/LECC, just to keep an ear to the ground about what is planned next in their state.

I think I know the answer but I just need to verify. After the implementation of CAP, the LP1s and LP2s will still be sending EAS alerts via the EAS protocol, correct? I got a question from a cable operator wanting to know if he needed to coordinate with any of his local broadcasters as we implement CAP. I told him that I thought the LP1 and 2 would continue to send EAS alerts as they do now and there was no coordination needed. Did I tell him correctly?

Thanks.
