"Probably never hear a test as these services are not part of any state or local EAS plans."
Yet another reason to have a national tests.

Part 11.11 spells out the requirements for all broadcasters including DBS broadcasters: http://ecfr.gpoaccess.gov/cgi/t/text/text-idx?c=ecfr&sid=e933989b447126b80613e7125753606b&rgn=div8&view=text&node=47:1.0.1.1.12.1.237.3&idno=47
The opening paragraph for a FCC consumer document for EAS facts reads:
"The Emergency Alert System (EAS) is a national public warning system that requires TV and radio broadcasters, cable television systems, wireless cable systems, satellite digital audio radio service (SDARS) providers, direct broadcast satellite (DBS) service providers and wireline video service providers to offer to the President the communications capability to address the American public during a national emergency."

Arienne,
Great question, I was wondering the same thing.
I have been a Dish Network subscriber for a long time and have NEVER seen an EAS test on any channel except the local broadcast channels.
Not sure what they are required to do.

After all the discussion about cable providers and the problems with the force-tune display, does anyone know what will happen on the satellite TV systems? Will those also be force tuned to a display of the EAS readout or will the local stations remain in place? What will happen to the non-local satellite channels like ESPN or Fox News?
