1 A significant number of "this is how it works" training memos.
2 Hands on explanation of how to shade cameras, read scopes
3 operators manuals kept in operating areas
4 AutoCAD diagrams on the walls of each room showing in single line how
stuff is connected so you don't have to go look for one.
5. plain text labels on cables, racks, UPS units, source equipment.
6. color coded wires red= sync, green = NTSC, yellow= monitor, orange= temp,
small blue SDI, large blue HDSDI (1855/1505). Blue = data (audio) AES is on
1855.blue, gray (white) = left audio black = right audio (same number of
letters in each pair) yellow audio = time code
Snakes color coded (RETMA)
XLR connectors panels labeled.
Color coded tape on UPS connections corresponding to rack #
camera batteries numbered and dated
KISS signal routing
Productivity doesn't come from filling out forms, computer programs, it comes
from intuitive operating functions. Excel for maintenance records, budgets,
Sat dishes have chart with degrees, sat name, "dial" numbers for each
controller, and sample signal on each that is sure to be there to ID. Plus book of
all channels ID's on sats (Lyngsat) sorted by arc place. Conversion tables to
convert downlink to IF frequency for crappy Sencore units that don't use direct
Simple coax switches to select which receiver goes to which antenna. 1 for Ku
one for C band, each selects East, Center, West.
