Hi Guys,
Blew the Dust off the spare 9010A and Z80 Pod this weekend at a friend's.
Had some issues with a board with a Turned Pin IC socket, Unsure if the Pod
fully made the connection fully..... I'm also aware that the connector /
cable assembly is hard and expensive to replace and needs to be treated with
general care and not abused....
Anyway.... It dawned on me........
You can Buy a 40 Pin Zif socket for under $2 on Ebay (from China), along
with a turned pin 40 way socket for much the same cost.....
Solder these two back to back, and then get a few strips of round/turned pin
male to male header strips (also Ebay From china).
Plug these into the turned pin socket that you soldered to the zif socket to
give you male turned pins...... These will plug nicely into turned pin
sockets and other types.... if pins break off, just replace a small section
of the header strip.
Very cheap to make and saves wear and tear on those valuable and rare pod
connectors !!!
While debugging the board, leave adaptor in place, and you can also pop the
original cpu in the zif if required.
Regards, Col
