work for Kathy Bodie and Brian Sullivan as the CTO. Since my office is in 
the High School Kathy Bodie asked if I could send a copy of her email below

Dear Town Meeting Members,

Sometime this Fall, the Town Manager will ask the BOS to call a special town 
meeting to ask you to reduce the school department budget by $1.5 million.  
I'm sending to you the documents that have been provided to the School 
Committee, BOS, and Finance Committee regarding the school district's FY10 
budget deficit.  In the Factors Chart, we have identified how we plan to 
offset the $1.5 million deficit using funds and savings from the FY11 
budget.  The school department is not asking the town for any money to cover 
the deficit.  

The school department owns this problem and has a plan to solve it.  We 
realize now, more than ever, that the volatility of out-of-district special 
education costs must be carefully considered in any multi-year fiscal 
stability plan.  Last year was an extraordinary year for the school 
department with respect to lost revenue and increased out-of-district 
special education expenses.  Our experience cautions us that it is 
imperative to address this issue as a community.
