An alternate 60x60 mix of Canadian composers lead by Eldad Tsabary is debuting this weekend in Totonto and Halifax, Canada "60x60 was initiated in 2003 and his since grown into one of the planet?s most coveted contemporary music events.... its success can be explained by the sheer wealth of different approaches on display and its capacity of organically integrating them underneath the roof of ?New music?. And thank Mike, Jason, Jay, David, and Ian for the outstanding work they do with the festival. EMM has been a strong supporter of 60x60 and electronic music in general. Last weekend the festival presented all four of the Midwest Minute Mixes and this year's International Mix thrown in for good measure. I am happy to say we have been invited back for 2009. The 2009 Midwest Mix will be presented as a Dance collaboration with Jeramy Zimmerman. Jeramy Zimmerman of CatScratch theater is a choreographer currently collaborating with Vox Novus and 60x60. Currently based in Brooklyn, she is originally from Kansas. 60x60 Dance (2009 / Midwest Mix) will be a performance not to be missed. I strongly encourage ALL Midwest composers to submit works to be a part of this event. The next call for 2009 can be found here: http://www.voxnovus.com/60x60/Call.htm Meanwhile here is a blog talking about 60x60 Midwest Madness. Take a look and listen at the other blogs about EMM! EMM 2008 - Rob Voisey on 60x60 Rob Voisey operates the music promotion company Vox Novus, and he oversees one of electronic music's most popular annual competitions: 60x60. At EMM 2008, Rob presented a continuously running 60 x 60 made up with submissions from composers in the midwest. Cadillac Moon Ensemble at Composer's Voice concert today Message-ID: <20081026123627.72CE320A35@qs281.pair.com> Looking for something to do on a New York City Fall afternoon? Cadillac Moon Ensemble is playing on Vox Novus Composer's Voice Concert Series at the Jan Hus Church on Sunday, October 26 at 1:00. It's a fantastic space, and it's easy to get there. The Jan Hus Church is located at 351 East 74th Street, between First and Second Avenues, nearer First on the north side of the street. If you get lost, look for steep steps going up! Our program will include premieres of pieces by Luca Vanneschi, Jay C. Batzner, and Dominic Donato, as well as compositions by Jeff Harrington, John Cage, and Sean Varah. Admission is FREE. Sunday, October 26, 2008 1:00pm Jan Hus Church 351 East 74th St. (between First and Second Ave) New York, NY The Cadillac Moon Ensemble is dedicated to the exploration of new sonorous and evocative aural possibilities, commissioning new works from and developing integral relationships with emerging and established composers, and challenging ourselves, our composers, and our audiences alike, all while having a bit of fun. Their commitment to these objectives and our unique instrumentation of flute, violin, cello, and percussion yields a stimulating and untapped reservoir from which new musical voices will be discovered and nurtured. Cadillac Moon Ensemble consists of Roberta Michel-flutes, Jeffrey Phillips-violin/viola, Evelyn Farny-cello, and Danielle Weinberg-percussion. Our "Composer's Voice" series is an opportunity for contemporary composers to express their musical aesthetic and personal "voice" created in their compositions. Vox Novus is collaborating with the Remarkable Theater Brigade and Jan Hus Church to produce a monthly concert series promoting the chamber works of contemporary composers. Remarkable Theater Brigade, founded by Christian McLeer, Dan Jeselsohn and Monica Harte, creates and produces new operas and musicals and takes children's versions out to special-needs and at-risk children free of charge.
