I suppose this is in some way linked to the idea I had for Counting Time from the 2004 60x60 Cd. I intend to compose a piece based around conversations. The problem is that if I record the conversations myself it would be hard for me not to lead them in certain directions etc. tainting the random/chance element that I need to work off. I am looking for conversations between two or more people between about thirty seconds and two minutes, recorded on any type/quality of media, then converted into a standard quality mp3 file and emailed to me directly at justinbreame at btinternet.com. They can be about life changing experiences, or entirely random, whatever is possible. I would ask that permission is sought from those taking part, obviously I do not wish to find myself in court in the future! Could you possibly forward this to the Vox Novus list? I appreciate your time is very limited, and by the way I would just like to thank you for the work you are doing, its always nice to still see my work from 2004 getting used every now and again. Hi to all the 2009 JPF Music Awards Nominees and Winners, We just got back home from this year's awards show weekend in Nashville, TN and we all had a wonderful time. The 100+ artists and bands who performed blew us away with their talent and passion and best of all with their warm, friendly and supportive enthusiasm for their fellow nominees and eventual winners. The international field of nominees from nearly all 93 genres of music, performance and writing came together in such a powerful way that folks were shedding tears of joy (and I mean that literally). It was truly magical. We have the entire show on video and will be editing the video as soon as we can. We did webcast 100% of the show from BB Kings on Friday night and most of the Awards show on Saturday but we learned after the fact that there was some problems early on with the Internet signal that caused some of you to miss the start of the show. I am sure you're anxious to see all the results. What you will see below is the actual winners/finalists we announced live at the show. It is our tradition to announce the Top 4 Albums (First through Fourth place) and Top 6 Songs (First through Sixth place). (We recognize 2 additional positions in the Singer-Songwriter categories). We award trophies to the first place winners in each category. If you won a category and were not present, we will confirm the information with you (so we can get the inscription correct on the trophy) and then we will mail it to the address you provide. (A separate email will be sent to category winners with more information). The links go to all the Album winners, Song winners, the winners of on-line Lyric category and our 2 Video categories. Our biggest awards of the night are linked at the bottom. The Founders Awards include all of the "Of The Year" categories. Before you read the winners and finalists below, I just want to again congratulate ALL of this year's nominees for sharing your passion, heart and soul with all of us and having it rise to the top of the largest collection of music ever screened, filtered and recognized in history. The voting was extremely close top to bottom in every category and every nominee had supporters who felt their music was the best. That indicated not only the strength of the nominees but also the diversity of the judges which is very important to our process. So here are the results from the 10,000+ judges assigned in the final round of voting which included a mix of Music Industry Professionals, Music Fans and your own Musician and Songwriter Peers (including many of you reading this)! Congrats to all of you! 2009 Album Winners: Top 4 Albums in All Genres http://www.jpfolks.com/MusicAwards/2009/Nominees/AlbumWinners.htm 2009 Song Winners: Top 6 Songs in All Genres http://www.jpfolks.com/MusicAwards/2009/Nominees/SongWinners.htm 2009 Lyric Winners: Top 6 On-Line Lyrics http://www.jpfolks.com/MusicAwards/2009/Nominees/LyricWinners.htm 2009 Video Winners: Top 6 Music Videos & Top 4 Live Concert Videos http://www.jpfolks.com/MusicAwards/2009/Nominees/VideoWinners.htm 2009 Founders Awards: All 2009 "Of The Year" Winners http://www.jpfolks.com/MusicAwards/2009/Nominees/FoundersWinners.htm As you might imagine our volunteer team is transitioning back to their regular lives after months of heavy focus on all of this. We are still working on getting photos from the many photographers so we can post them on the web. We'll also be leaving to visit the UK/Ireland and Amsterdam next week for the first time. If any of you nominees are available in England, Wales, N. Ireland, Scotland or Ireland or can/will be in the Amsterdam area during our visit between September 8th-October 10th please send me a note. We'd LOVE to meet you in person and learn more about your music scenes and what life is like for people making music there. It would be wonderful if we could pull a bunch of you together in a few of the larger cities for a group event. Just email me here at jpfolkspro at aol.com and place UK/Ireland/Amsterdam in the subject so we can keep track with the 1000's of emails pouring in right now. As always if you have any questions let me know! We're all in this together... Just Plain Folks! Brian Brian Austin Whitney Founder Just Plain Folks www.jpfolks.com
