With flash 8, macromedia really simplified the upgrade process, which is 
good news for you......when flash 7 (possibly 6 as well, not sure) opens 
a swf published with flash 8, it lets you uprade the plugin directly
in the flash movie.  A message apears letting the user know they need to 
upgrade thier flash player to view this content, they click a button to 
upgrade, and thats it.

Also, Im not sure about this, but I think if you don't use some flash 8 
specific features, you can compile it to a flash 7 or even flash 6 swf 
file, while still allowing people with flash 8 to benfit from some of 
the improvements.
