[casual_games] Shockwave Mini-Games on Verizon US

Shockwave's mini-portal recently hit the OTA download
'Featured' fun&games menu on Verizon.

Will this development precipitate a "Flash Flood" (pun
intended) of mini-game content on handsets? Or is it
just "another brick in the wall"-ed garden?

It will be interesting to see how the introduction of
a lower price-point/lower production value offering
works next to the premium titles in mobile walled
gardens. Will this strategy be accretive/incremental?
Will it be dilutive/cannibalistic? Is it just the
next iteration of the cycle leading to practically
unlimited adver-supported-free-mini-games on every
mobile handset, like the ocean of free mini-games
online?

Just a rumour, but did anyone else hear about
infospace's 40% staff cut? Will the rest of the VC-
supported outfits follow suit in their wake now that
the brutal realities of the mobile entertainment
business crater the VC's business plan pro-formas?

Comments or predictions, anyone?
