That’s a good point. Luckily for Game Trust we are the platform provider and
leave it up to our clients (distributors) to add/omit terms they deem
inappropriate/appropriate for their community of players, different game
chat rooms, etc.

Some of the words on that list are interesting, specifically 666, com, gay,
and Jew. And this is just the base that people add to?

At what point do profanity filters become more offensive than the language
they actually filter? 

I also question what would happen if our vice president joined this chat and
people started addressing him by his first name.

I've attached Game Trust's base list of banned profanities for our in-game
chat client across our single- and multiplayer community game network. Often
our distribution partners will add to this list, but this is the base.

We're building out our registration process and want to be able to prevent
users from creating screen names that contain profane, sexually explicit or
defamatory words and phrases. Has anybody on the list seen a decent list of
these terms that's been assembled? Anybody willing to share theirs?
