Regarding StarForce:
http://www.glop.org/starforce/
I recently found out why every DVD I had tried to burn
on my laptop for the last 6 months came out as useless
beer-coasters; thank you StarForce.
The hidden Ring0 fake CD/DVD driver it installs as
part of it's anti-piracy efforts causes random
blue-screens, disk drive incompatibility, random
slowdowns and in a couple of cases actual hardware
failure. Not to mention it provides a neat way to
bypass all the security features for anyone wanting to
make your PC a card-carrying member of the russian
mafia's Zombie Bulk Email Army.
Shun.
