Hi all!
Every year, the Steering Committee of the IGDA Casual Games SIG is elected
at Casual Connect in Seattle. The IGDA is the world's largest network of
independent game developers. IGDA works to advance the careers and enhance
the lives of game developers by connecting members with their peers,
promoting professional development, and advocating on issues that affect the
developer community. The Casual Games SIG is an independent and balanced
resource that:

- facilitates the sharing of knowledge and ideas among developers to help
create better games;
- helps developers better understand their customers and how to market to
them; and
- promotes initiatives on behalf of developers that encourage the growth
of the entire casual games space.

The SIG's initiatives depend on a group of willing volunteers to move them
forward and a Steering Committee to help organize them. This year the SIG

- published a 200-page white paper on the casual game space
- published two excellent free newsletters including post-mortems and
independent analysis
- began work on establishing standards for giving developers proper
credit on download portals
- began work on setting up monthly voice chats on areas of common
interest

If you care about the casual game community and would like an opportunity to
work with some of the best and brightest in the space, please consider
joining the Steering Committee. As a committee member, you will:

- Participate in a 30-minute monthly status conference call
- Spend a small amount of time (typically 2-3 hours per month) driving or
volunteering on a SIG initiative.

It's a great way to give back to the community and do some great networking
at the same time.

If you are interested in serving on the 2009-2010 steering committee, please
send a brief email to universedave at gmail.com and let me know:

- Your name
- Your company and title
- A brief statement of your experience in casual games (or games in
general)
- Why you're interested in serving on the steering committee
- Any initiatives you're particularly excited about

The current Steering Committee will get back to all candidates shortly after
Casual Connect.

Thanks for your time and interest,
Dave Rohrl
Chair, IGDA Casual Game SIG 2008-2009
