Hi everyone,
I recently had the gamma knife procedure, which went well and I thought that I didn't need it but we're really positive it's going to get the rest of the tumor, which is in a very dangerous area as you know.
To that end...I've had some speech issues while my brain calms down. It's getting better but it's just not quick enough for me. At least I can now type, right? So I sincerely apologize for the lack of phone response and I really appreciate the messages.
Please help support Mark in the AbleGamers fundraising effort. I am still trying to figure out if we can get some of the money that Ben Sawyer was able to get for us but obviously...I've had a lot of my mind? Oh...that was a bad joke. But only I can make it! ;) I also need help with funding...it's been an expensive year for all...and I'm without a joke right now and in debt like you wouldn't believe. Yay! Health Care!!
Harmonix has provided this awesome opportunity for AbleGamers -- they have also sent a few of us some "hacking kits" and perhaps they might be able to help sponsor some additional money. I'm considering sending out a letter to ask some of our friendlier companies to donate before the tax year ends. The ECA may also have some $$ for us if we can "person" their booth and chat about accessibility for a few 2-3 hour shifts throughout GDC (no more than 2 a person).
We are an official non-profit through the IGDA foundation and I am finding out how to donate money for those of you who have asked and want to contribute more. I will set up a "GDC fund" for travel reimbursements to at least help us not go completely broke in March. This will be for Mark, Thomas, and myself who are the only ones able to get passes...I'm sorry to say. I don't know how we can get the full "gang" back again but I'm working on it. Perhaps a smaller GDC? I'm still pushing for GDC SF in March but they were sharks this year. :(
And if you don't have Rock Band...it...rocks. :) And we are working on some accessibility solutions so if you need assistance setting up for alternative controllers, let people on the list know!!!!!
So get your raffle tickets now!
Talk again soon...I mean for like actual talking and not emails. And texting is too tiny to deal with at the moment (I'm a wee bit clutzy).
Best to all,
Michelle
Hello all,
I know that everyone is busy, and I know that the economy is tight for everyone. AbleGamers is looking to raise some money so that we can go to GDC next year. As many of you know, it is not cheap!
The great people over at Harmonix has sent AbleGamers two "ROCK BAND - SPECIAL EDITION", one for Playstation 2, and one for XBOX 360 for us to use in our fund raising efforts for GDC.
We are selling raffle tickets for each at the price of $10... We are only selling 50 tickets to EACH one, so there is a 1 in 50 chance to win (or more if you buy more). And we will have the winner selected and sent out as close to Christmas as we can (We are shooting for Dec 15th).

I also ask that you please pass this on to others that you think may want to help out. We could really use the cash this year...
Please email me off list if you have any questions... ioo at ablegamers.com
Thanks
Mark Barlet
