[Techtoolslist] Parting out lot of Tektronix scopes 7704 vintage

First let me apologize for this likely being in the wrong place or
otherwise somehow mis-posted.  Those who remember me from the arcade game
newsgroups may well remember that I never had a very good grip on posting
procedures and protocols.

 

That said - I acquired 2 Tek 7704s, a 7834,  7704A, a pair of the 3 slot
versions of the 7704, model number escapes me at the moment, 7623, 7633,
and a 5103.  At the moment none of them work properly.

 

The 7704A and the 7834 both worked properly until I used them to test a
batch of plugins and each was damaged by bad 7A26 vertical amps.  I
checked the power supplies on both and they are ok.

 

I don't have the understanding of scope operating theory, the patience,
and most of all, the desire, to fix these.  In addition I do not wish to
ship working scopes of that weight and bulk; getting to be an old fart now
and don't want to haul a packed 45 pound scope up my cellar stairs to the
porch for UPS.

 

So - all but one of the 7704s worked to the extent of being able to verify
that HV was present and the CRT had usable brightness; most had either
vertical or horizontal deflection.  The 7834 was working, the storage
buttons produced various changes in the phosphor.  All I believe have
decent complete knob sets except for one of the 7704s.

 

Holler if you need anything and we can work something out on price.  If
you are willing to pay the extra shipping I will sell the 7704s if I can
ship them in 2 pieces, separating the display from the acquisition unit.
