[casual_games] Is anyone using .NET 2.0?

We're in the midst of converting over to .NET 2.0. Since we are a platform
provider we've got infrastructure, APIs, dev tools, etc. as well as a few
in-house games. All of this is being converted over and will be in release
in time for the launch of VS 2005.

The answer to your language question is 'yes' :-), we've got components and
apps in all three languages as was appropriate at the time. One of the nice
things with .NET is it all interoperates without any serious voodoo
involved.

I started out programming professionally with assembly and Borland C, back
when it came in a box 3 feet wide, a million years ago. I note this because
I know a lot of people on this list who are programmers have probably not
looked outside of the compiler they are currently proficient with in a long
time. I have to say that if you haven't looked into .NET yet you owe
yourself to spend a little time on it. Besides the great language features
and namespace (libraries) the new dev environment is a real benefit to
productivity. Half the time and 30-80% as much code is generally the rule
for 10x programmers making the switch.

VS 2005 is to VS '97 as Word 2003 is to Wordperfect 5.0.

Subject: [casual_games] Is anyone using .NET 2.0?

With the release of Visual Studio 2005 (and the 2.0 .NET Framework) just
around the corner, I'm wondering if anyone on this list is using .NET in
general and 2.0 in particular. If so, are you developing in C#, Managed C++
or VB.NET?

We've been using 2.0 on our casual RPG ever since the first beta of VS2005
was available.

Thanks,

Chris Williams
