[casual_games] Do references go both ways?

Greetings, 

I¹m new to this list and relatively new to being an independent after years
developing educational, entertainment, and lifestyle products for previous
employers. Many thanks to organizations like IGDA and the generous people in
this community, whose expertise and advice is most helpful.

Does anyone know of a formal or informal source that provides ³references²
for companies that hire third party developers and/or development
consultants? As independents, we can¹t always afford to be choosey. Still,
it¹s nice to be aware of a company¹s reputation before you venture into a
relationship.  The development community is small and closely connected.
Sure would help keep the big guys honest if we joined forces to establish
some accountability.

Wouldn¹t it be great to have something like eBay¹s feedback system for
independents to rate companies that hire third party resources, publishers,
distributors, etc? Or am I just having a Norma Rae moment?
