Is there still life to the rumour/hype that MS will be extending an
XBLA-like experience to the PC, which may in turn incorporate the Microsoft
Points system seen on XBLA?

If so, that may become a ubiquitous micropayment system. Then again,
Passport was supposed to become a ubiquitous online account ID system and
that failed to reach its goal.

Alternatives to an MS Points system would be welcome and I don't intend to
trigger a wave of the usual anti-MS response; I'm just saying it may become
a significant element to this issue.
