Hi all!
We've made terrific progress on staffing the 2008 white paper. Dozens of
people have jumped on board to help write and edit many of the sections. As
of today, I have a section editor for every single section, but I still need
writers for the following subsections:
- Understanding Casual Games: What Is A Casual Game? and The Market
for Casual Games
- Downloadable Games: Overview, Art History, and Market & Audience
- Advergames: Art History, Market & Audience, Design Principles,
Production & Development, and Funding Models
- Ad-Supported Games: Overview, Art History, and Production &
Development
- Casual MMO's: Overview, Art History, Market & Audience, Production &
Development, and Key Players
- Console Downloads: Overview, Art History, Market & Audience, Design
Principles, Production & Development, and Key Players
- Derivative Products: Portable, Slots/Gambling
I'd really like to find volunteers who still step up and take these pieces
on, otherwise we're going to have to truncate some of these sections -
robbing them of the full treatment they deserve in the white paper.
If you can contribute even a small amount of time to write 3-5 pages -
especially around Casual MMO's or Console Downloads - you will be making a
tremendous contribution to this important community effort. Please get in
touch with me ASAP to help fill in some of these critical gaps.
Many thanks,
