I had the same thought.  I'm assuming the test-card (if you ever find
the instructions) plugs into J4 and some form of cpu accelerator could
do the same.   Sounds like a fun project.  I thought I'd read
(somewhere) that Fluke designed an Ethernet card which was intended to
plug into J4 but it's a very vague recollection.
